EDI Strategy, Priorities and Governance
The transformational changes we make across the University are driven and supported by an EDI framework of Strategy, Priorities and Governance
Our EDI Strategic Plan (2022−27)
The University, through its Strategic Plan (2022−2027): Transforming lives and communities, is committed to creating a purposeful community that will strive to make a positive difference and to building a diverse and inclusive culture where we attract, develop, and retain the best people. The strategic ambition is articulated around three core themes: We Collaborate, We Challenge, We Transform.
Our EDI Strategic Plan supports the University’s strategic ambition and its three core themes.
We Collaborate
Our work towards a fully inclusive university involves everyone across the institution. We will build collaborations across all professional services and academic departments, schools, colleges and the Students’ Union. We will collaborate to co-create our inclusive cultures and environments and ensure they meet the needs of everyone (staff and students).
We Challenge
We will challenge the traditional approach to EDI that has failed to reduce inequalities in UKHEI over the last 30+ years. We will challenge the policies and practices that have led to inequalities at Lincoln, establishing evidence-based change and intervention and ensuring their impact is measured using robust research methodologies.
We Transform
- We will bring about the changes needed to create a diverse and inclusive culture & environment by adopting transformational and progressive practices, founded on the need to ask questions, to challenge, to seek solutions, to look for evidence of change, and to measure impact.
- We will adopt a systems-based approach, working holistically across the whole institution to change the embedded structures and processes that lead to inequalities and isolation.
- We will transform our systems, structures, policies and practices as a community.

Our EDI Priorities 2022-27
Aligned to the University Strategic Plan (2022−2027): Transforming lives and communities, our EDI Priorities give the University a strategic vision and direction to ensure that we are actively inclusive in everything we do, and that our diversity growth across staff and student communities is powered by inclusion, informed by our listening strategy, and underpinned by our research. Our three priority areas are embedded in our EDI Strategic Plan, and each year we review and identify our key supporting actions.

EDI Governance at the University of Lincoln
The University’s EDI governance structure is the framework that underpins all of Lincoln’s EDI activity, drives transformational change, and is critical to our success. It forms an extended, fully-representative, university-wide communication and evaluation network, and is the mechanism through which transformational and progressive EDI strategy is developed and communicated.
