Work towards our first Race Equality Charter Award (Bronze, April 2021) focussed on self-reflection, building an understanding of the racial inequalities across our institution, and developing solutions to the racial inequalities we have so far identified
Our first Race Equality Action Plan (2021-25) is aimed at achieving long-term institutional culture change. It is not aimed at changing individuals.
The Action Plan is divided into 4 main categories:
- Facilitating Culture Change and progressing conversations around race equality
- Addressing the underrepresentation of BAME staff
- Supporting an inclusive student pipeline: from undergraduate admissions to postgraduate success
- Governance: Ensuring accountability for and delivery of the Race Equality Action Plan
