National award highlights University’s commitment to gender equality

The University of Lincoln has been recognised for its dedication to gender equality with a Silver Athena Swan Award. The University received its first Bronze Athena Swan Award in 2014. Ten years on, we celebrate our first institutional silver award and the progress this represents towards gender equality. The University is one of a select number of UK universities to achieve a silver award.

Celebrating Trans Day of Visibility 2024

31 March is International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDoV), a day dedicated to raising visibility and awareness of trans and non-binary people worldwide. TDoV began in 2009 as an opportunity to celebrate and uplift Trans voices on an international scale. It is now celebrated by people across the world.

Inspiring Reads: Women’s History Month 2024

Women’s History Month started as just a week-long celebration in the 1980s. It has since evolved into a month-long celebration, including International Women's Day on 8 March, that champions women’s rights as well as the achievements of women throughout history. This year's Women’s History Month, staff at the EGI are reviewing their favourite books by and about women.

Women’s History Month 2024

March is Women's History Month and a time to highlight and reflect on how women have historically been discriminated against and overlooked both in their daily lives, in the historical record and for their contributions across society. It is a time to re-evaluate and challenge how the past has been presented and to celebrate the achievements of women, past and present.

Exhibition of PRIDE community art project

The University ran a community art project at Lincoln Pride in 2023, inviting members of the public to express what pride means to them. These artworks will be exhibited throughout the month and beyond to generate conversations about the importance of PRIDE.

LGBT+ History Month

February is LGBT+ History Month. The 2024 theme celebrates LGBT+ peoples’ contribution to the field of Medicine and Healthcare both historically and today. As well as celebrating at the University of Lincoln, with our programme of events including workshops, talks and an exhibition, Lincoln staff and students are also invited to join the Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust events.
