Celebrating Beyond International Women’s Day 2021
This year, the University of Lincoln celebrates International Women’s Day 2021 by highlighting some of our own women who have achieved success, and some who have made significant impact across the institution over the last year. In line with this year's theme 'Choose to Challenge', these women really have ‘chosen to challenge’, and embody excellence in the face of ever-changing priorities
International Women's Day marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. It has been celebrated for over a century, with the first 8 March IWD gathering in 1914, supported by over a million people in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. Prior to this, the Socialist Party of America, the UK's Suffragists and Suffragettes, and further groups campaigned for women equality. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere – it is not country-, group- or organisation-specific.
In an ongoing celebration throughout the month of March, we will share profiles, achievements and inaugural lectures of our very own (inter)national women, as they forge a path to inspire other staff and students across our One Community.

A challenged world is an alert world.
Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day. We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women's achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.
From challenge comes change, so let's all choose to challenge.
