National award highlights University’s commitment to gender equality

The University of Lincoln has been recognised for its dedication to gender equality with a Silver Athena Swan Award. The University received its first Bronze Athena Swan Award in 2014. Ten years on, we celebrate our first institutional silver award and the progress this represents towards gender equality. The University is one of a select number of UK universities to achieve a silver award.

A report published this week outlines the findings of a rapid impact review of COVID-19’s impact on maternal mental health and services by the Maternal Mental Health Alliance and Centre for Maternal Health. A combination of lockdown, economic uncertainty, job insecurity, and the impact of the virus itself, coupled with the reduced access to vital perinatal and mental health services, is likely to have long-term consequences for women and their families, as well as for health services and provisions

Celebrating: Dr Nadia Gulko - LIBS

Nadia is the Director of Teaching & Learning in the Department of Accountancy, Finance and Economics. She has been named the 'Global Champion for Teaching Excellence 2020' by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. This is the latest in a long line of awards that includes the Teaching Excellence Award 2017/18, Vice Chancellor’s Award in Teaching 2018, and Best Practice Award 2019 (Increasing Student Engagement)

Celebrating: Dr Chiara Beccalossi - School of History and Heritage

Since 2015, Chiara has been working to raise awareness of trans issues and has spearheaded the Transitional States programme, which is supported by the Welcome Trust. She has been organising events for LGBT+ History Month since 2018, which is now a regular feature at the University of Lincoln. Chiara was included in the Global OUTstanding 100 LGBT+ Future Leaders’ List, January 2021
