Supporting fathers better: Dr Anna Tarrant & Leanne McHugh in conversation
22 Feb
Despite a shift in expectations about men’s increased involvement in care and family life, particularly in fatherhood, there is very little evidence about men’s diverse care responsibilities; the meanings, experiences and patterns of providing care over time; or how men might be best supported with those responsibilities when they are living on a low-income

Introducing our new ediTalks
Research in discussion!
You are no doubt familiar with TED talks? In 2018, the Eleanor Glanville Centre will begin a series of editalks – which will bridge the link between research and industry.
Join us as academics from across the University of Lincoln chat with practitioner and partners in industry about the impact and real world application of their research.
Supporting fathers better: An academic and nurse practitioner in conversation
The fist editalk brings together Dr Anna Tarrant, Senior Lecturer, School of Social & Political Sciences (UOL), and Nurse Practitioner Leanne McHugh (NHS).
Anna and Leanne will discuss their shared interest in promoting father involvement; Father involvement not only benefits families but reaches beyond, contributing to the broader project of gender equality. Drawing on both research and practice-based experience, Anna and Leanne share their insights about the creative ways in which dads can be better supported to engage in family life by a range of health and social providers and explain why we need to take the involvement of fathers in family life more seriously.
