Sue Liburd MBE: The Bag of Aspirations - Reimagining What’s Possible

This Be Inspired! lecture recognises International Women’s Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women

International Women's Day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. The theme this year is Break the Bias.

Inspired by the Bag of Aspirations, a sculpture designed by Kalliopi Lemos of the famous expensive and highly sought-after Hermès Birkin handbag, Sue offers fresh perspectives from her ‘Bag of Aspirations’ on how we can reimagine and change our relationship with bias to create a more gender-equal and inclusive world.

Sue champions diversity and inclusion in all that she does, promoting the importance and understanding of intersectionality and equality as a driver for business success. She was awarded an MBE in 2016 in recognition for her services to Business, Charities and Voluntary organisations. This year, she was named among the HERoes 100 Women Executives 2020.

Sue is Deputy Chair and BAME Lead for the NHS England Armed Forces Public Patient Voice (PPV) Advisory Group, Member of the Seacole Group (national BAME NHSE NEDs Group), Council Member of the Memorial Gates, Founding member of the Black Leaders Forum, and Chair of the Black Inclusion Week Task Force.
